The heavyweights of the circuit pass the 2nd round - Masters 1000 Cincinnati
The ATP world rankings leaders managed to pass the second round of the Masters 1000 Cincinnati. This is the case of Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. After a victory in the Masters 1000 Montreal, Andy Murray was the first to qualify for the knockout following his win against the American Mardy Fish (6-4, 7-6 [1]). He will face Grigor Dimitrov in the next round. Having lost the first set, the Swiss snatched then second in the tiebreak before securing qualification in the third (3-6, 7-6 [3], 6-3). Sports betting enthusiasts find the worldwide No. 5 in front of Ivo Karlovic eighth, a player that he has already beaten four times in five meetings.
Novak Djokovic won against Benoît Paire (7-5, 6-2). The French delivered a good game, especially in the first set for his first meeting with the Serbian world number 1. The French made the break at 4-3 before Novak Djokovic won it. Benoit Paire stood throughout the match, but the power and experience of the Serbian finally took over. Like Benoit Paire, Jeremy Chardy was eliminated in the second round. The French faced Rafael Nadal and was ousted of the tournament in 2 sets (6-3, 6-4), a sad fate for one who managed to reach the semi-finals in Montreal before stumbling over Novak Djokovic. Jeremy Chardy registered a big lack in service (47% of first ball) and bowed against Nadal in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).
