The Team Sky confirms its supremacy - Tour de France
Christopher Froome (Sky) remains on top of the leaderboard at the “Tour de France” following an impressive performance in the 10th leg of the 167 km Tarbes-to-La Pierre-Saint-Martin stage. The leader of the Team Sky retains the yellow jersey at the end of this first high mountain stage. He even made a fast surge towards the final ascent. Nairo Quintana (Movistar), for his part, tried to challenge the Britishman, but in vain. He finished the last 7 Km stage riding solo. Worse, Quintana was even surpassed by another Team Sky member, Richie Porte, in the last 300 meters. In fact, Nairo Quintana finished 1'04 "behind Froome. On Tuesday, Sky became the favorite team in sports betting with three cyclists in the Top 6.
After the first day of rest, online betting fans actually expected a breakaway. Froome successfully found the right way and eventually advanced ahead of Pierrick Fedrigo (Bretagne-Séché). However, the gap got trimmed down over the ride. Romain Bardet (AG2R), Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) and Jean-Christophe Peraud (AG2R) were among the ones who failed to stand still. The day was also marked by the unexpected poor performance of Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and that of Spain’s Alberto Contador. Both cyclists respectively finished 4'25 "and 2'51" behind the leader. This stage has allowed Christopher Froome to gain an incredible advantage in the overall ranking. Tejay Van Garderen (BMC) is ranked 2nd position with 2'52 behind Froome, followed by Nairo Quintana at + 3'09 " and Alberto Contador (+ 4'04").
