WPT Foundation: Generosity gets the upper hand
The WPT Foundation is an association which gathers professional players of poker, celebrities, artists and sportsmen, in order to support charitable organizations. Last weekend, the association organized a charitable poker tournament to support the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation, charities aiming at promoting the integration of young people inside society, through sport and education. Baptized «The Frank Mariani & Jerry Buss No Limit Hold'em Poker Classic », the event gathered 57 personalities in the poker room of Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, among whom professional poker players such as David Chiu and Toto Leonidas, and also high-level sportsmen like the former tennis player Vince Van Patten. During this event, the lure of gain was forgotten even if every one knows well to play poker, for the advantage of generosity and the WPT Foundation collected $7,800. The quintuple winner of the WSOP, David Chiu, has even given one of his bracelets in honor of the former boss of the Los Angeles Lakers deceased this year, Jerry Buss.
The charitable action of the WPT Foundation will continue with the WPT Foundation Ladies' Night Invitational, on the occasion of the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker, which will be held from this Thursday August 29th. This very glamorous tournament is going to gather 6 starlets of poker tables, who will represent each a charitable organization. Lily Kiletto, Vanessa Rousso, Liz Lieu, Jessica Dawley and Kimberly Lansing will be joined by the winner of the tournament organized by the Ladies International Poker Series, in September 1st. The winner will pocket a package of $25,000 for the big final of the WPT, while the organizations will share between them $20,000.
