GPI: Two November Nine reach back in the ranking
The 44th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which ended last week with the Main Event, brought great changes in the ranking of the week, in the Global Poker Index (GPI). Intractable since a few weeks, Jason Mercier keeps the head of the ranking, in front of Philipp Gruissem; but the distance between the two leading players has tightened. In fact, less than 50 points separate Jason Mercier (3,235.74) and Philipp Gruissem (3,194.42). Marvin Rettenmaier garners two new places and rises at the last step of the podium. The German supremacy concerning the classification of the 300 best players, who know well to play poker, at the global level, is remarkable. Just behind Philipp Gruissem and Marvin Rettenmaier, we find again a German, Ole Schemion, who won this week six places. At the 5th place, we find Joseph Cheong (-1), followed by Daniel Negreanu, Michael Watson (-4), Bertrand Grospellier, Stephen ODwyer (-2) and Andrew Lichtenberger (-1), which finishes the Top 10.
Justin Cuong Van "J.C." Tran signed the best progress of the week. The American is the chipleader of the WSOP 2013s final table, which will be held in November 4th of this year. The November Nine won 315 places to hit the 238th place of the GPI. He will play the final of the WSOP 2013, alongside Amir Lehavot, Marc McLaughlin, Jay Farber, Ryan Riess, Sylvain Loosli, Michiel Brummelhuis, Mark Newhouse and David Benefield. Second in chips at the beginning of this most mediatized final on the circuit, the Israeli Amir Lehavot occupies this week, the 120th place of the GPI, by winning 150 places.
