Won by Jonathan Jaffe - WPT Montreal 2014 Main Event
Jonathan Jaffe set the World Poker Tour Montreal 2014 alight by beating Ratharam Sivagnanam in the heads-up. While almost all eyes were turned on talented poker guru Mukul Pahuja and his possible feat after four-time missed first place this year. Against all odds, it was Jaffe who emerged victorious of the WPT Montreal Main Event by besting a field of 732 players. At the end of Day 2 battle, the 732-player field was played down to 9. Phillip Hui, Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Lonnie Hallett fell to 9th, 8th and 7th place respectively; their final-table finishes in this poker tournament allowed them to cash $ 69,260, $ 55,084 and $ 41,371though.
Only 54 hands were played and the field trimmed from 6 to 2 players. One after the other, Guillaume Nolet (6th, $ 83,658) Samuel Chartier (5th, $ 103,537), Kevin MacPhee (4th, $ 138,278) and Mukul Pahuja (3rd, $ 186,964) headed to the door. After all, Mukul reaches the Top 5 of the 2014 WPT following his 4th place finish in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star and second places in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. This year, his overall earnings total $ 1,247,546.The heads-up between Jonathan Jaffe and Ratharam Sivagnanam lasted 81 hands. The two players exchanged the chip lead all along the face-to-face until Ratharam Sivagnanam eventually lost control of the game. As a runner-up, Sivagnanam earned $ 290,111 of consolation. For Jonathan Jaffe, he added $ 429,106 to his $ 137,651 bill he had cashed in October at the World Poker Finals Main Event.
