Yahoo launches its online poker platform - Online poker
More and more technology giants have made a considerable business-move into online poker sector in recent years. After that of Facebook which recently introduced its freshly designed game of poker to social networking lovers, Yahoo has also made it through all stages by launching its own e-poker platform. Indeed, users of Yahoo search engine can now play poker via its Texas Hold'em portal. After several years of experience in other sports-based gambling such as Fantasy Football and Fantasy Basketball, Yahoo has raised the bar high this month by announcing the news. For now, the game of poker featured on Yahoo is played with fictitious money, but things are likely to change soon with the advent of "fantasy sports" and its "pay to win" services, guaranteeing real money prizes.
Some gambling-sector analysts said that Yahoo could operate e-poker real money games in the United States once the imminent state-to-state regulation of online poker in the continent is achieved. On watching how the situation evolves in the field, it would take time to see Yahoos wish be fulfilled. Actually, the United States only include three states with regulated online poker market: Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey. Of course, the existing poker market within these three states of 9.5 million of potential gamblers appears to be non profitable for Yahoo; worse, the said market is now suffering from saturation due to a number of poker rooms that are already operational. The only option is to wait for the legalization of online poker at the federal level.
