Maryland Live Casino: Its poker room attracts more and more players
The State of Maryland is one of the main actors in the poker industry in the United States alongside Nevada, New Jersey or Delaware. Maryland Live Casino! in Hanover is the second largest casino in Maryland which opened a poker room. The Hollywood Casino of Perryville was the first casino to have its own poker room in the State. Poker is indeed a very popular table game in Maryland which explains this initiative to open a casino room for fans of card game. Maryland Live! opened its poker room on last August and has 52 tables, perfect for receiving major tournaments on live circuit.
According to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, the opening of the poker room allowed Maryland Live! to increase its revenues compared to August 2012, revenue which reach $ 20 million of which $ 17.7 million comes from table games. During the four first days of opening of the space reserved for poker, this game recorded an income of $ $ 350,000. Apart from the two casinos, Rocky Gap Casino plans also to set up a poker room during the month of October. Competition will be then more intense in the coming months because of the casino projects of Caesars Entertainment and MGM, respectively in Baltimore and in Prince George County. The director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency added also that his agency is closely monitoring the developments of online poker in New Jersey in order to consider the introduction of the market in Maryland.
