Global Poker Index: Significant changes in the ranking
This week, a new update was brought to the global ranking of the best poker players, the Global Poker Index (GPI). Jason Mercier remains the leader of the worldwide classification, while Michael Watson and Stephen O'Dwyer moved back by a place, by giving the second place to Daniel Negreanu. Marvin Rettenmaier occupies the 5th place of the ranking, just behind Michael Watson and Stephen O'Dwyer. In the French GPI ranking, Bertrand « Elky » Grospellier remains the leader and forestalls Roger Hairabedian, Philippe Ktorza, Fabrice Soulier and Aubin Cazals. « Elky » occupies this week the global 9th place, just behind Ole Schemion.
In the United Kingdom, the member of the Team Ivey Poker, Toby Lewis, is at the head of the ranking with 2,566.58 points. Just after, we find Roberto Romanello with less than 400 points compared with the leader. David Vamplew, Chris Moorman, J.P. Kelly, Liv Boeree and John Eames are also in the Top 10, but they are at less than 2,000 points. Toby Lewis, 18th in the global ranking, owes his rise in the British ranking, thanks to his excellent performance at the poker tournament World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic (5th) and at the 25,000 High Roller tournament of the EPT Grand Final (6th). In Canada, Daniel Negreanu collects some points and rises to the first place of the ranking and gave to Michael Watson the second place. The rest of the classification remains unchanged with Sorel Mizzi at the 3rd place, followed by Mike McDonald and Jonathan Duhamel.
