The World Series of Poker 2012 has been a great success. And to support the reputation of those mythical tournaments, organizers are obliged to increase the level and the quality of the organization. This year, 61 bracelets were distributed during the long days of the World Series of Poker. Las Vegas hosted 74,766 players and the prize pool at stake reached $ 222 million. In 43 editions, never the WSOP reached these figures. For next year, the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas promises to reproduce even grander festivities. The 44th edition of the World Series of Poker will begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 and will only end on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, which means 49 days of non-stop tournament.

The winner of the prestigious trophy Asia Player of The Year is the Japanese Yosuke Sekiya. After having finished 2nd in the Macau Poker Cup Championship, the Japanese already inscribed his name in the top of this ranking list of the best player in the continent. Despite the presence of contenders for the title who also deserve this prize, there was among others Nicky Tao Jin, Celina Lin, Tony Chang, Justin Chan or Jay Tan, and despite their good performance, Sekiya has not been dethroned. While Denmark welcomes the first day of the WPT Copenhagen, the WPT Jacksonville reached its final table on the other side of the Atlantic. This step on the American soil of the WPT assembled a field of 477 players but only 28 players were selected at the start of the Day 3. After 14 hours of play, there were only six players for the final table. Noah Schwartz is the chipleader of the final table and is already on track for his first poker title with his well stocked stack representing nearly the half of the chips in this final. In fact, Schwartz has 6,255,000 chips while his pursuer has less than 2 million chips. Hans Winzeler who occupies the second place in the chip count has 1,965,000 chips and the rest of the field is just behind like Brian Senie (1,865,000), Lee Markholt (1.72 million), Ryan Hartmann (1,400,000) and Byron Kaverman (1,075,000).

This event was particularly interesting because the buy-in was HK $ 250,000 and, of course, many professional players on the international level were present at this appointment. These include among others the presence of Joseph Cheong, John Juanda, Phil Ivey and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. The ACOP High Roller of this new edition of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau brought together a total of 39 players generating a prizepool of HK $ 9,266,400 and the last player of the ITM received then HK $ 740,400.

It was at the Phoebus casino of Gruissan that the 68 poker enthusiasts gathered to compete for the title of the first stage of the ACF Poker Tour season 2, last week-end. A prize pool of € 46,000 has been met in this competition of € 750 buy-in and the largest share of an amount of € 13,000 was awarded to the winner, who is none other than the native of Paris, Michel Leibgorin. It should however be noted that big names in the poker world were in the list of competitors for this event. There were among others Jean Jacques Mars, Jean Paul Pasqualini and Marc Marty who ranked respectively 4th, 6th and 9th.

The final table of the tournament Asia Championship began on Sunday, November 11 in the poker room of the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex. Nine players took part but in the end, it's Xing Zhou who was awarded the victory, however, he was the closest competitor threatened by elimination. He indeed managed to win and was awarded the position of chipleader in a few hands. Henry Wang was the first to leave the table. He was followed by Tom Alner, Andrew Hinirichsen, Tsugunari Toma, Alan Sass and Jacques Zaicik who are classified respectively in the 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th place.

Now, the full calendar of the season XI of the poker circuit World Poker Tour (WPT) has just been unveiled. Many steps will take place in the largest cities of America and Europe. The main step of the season will be that of Las Vegas. This is the WPT World Championship at Bellagio that will be held from May 18 to 24, 2013. Two major tournament will be in the program at this stage which are the final of $ 25,000 buy-in and the $ 100,000 High-Roller. The tournament that will inaugurat the year 2013 will be that of Atlantic City. Fans of the circuit will therefore meet at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa from 27 January 2013.

The Day 2 of the Main Event of the Asia Championship of Poker, part of the APPT Macau 2012 was held on Thursday with the 140 survivors of the first day. The Day 2 was marked by the elimination of 84 players which lead to a field of 56 players for the Day 3. At the end of the day of Thursday, Andrew Gaw is at the top of the chip counts with a stack of 329,200 chips while the chipleader of the Day 1, Yue Lam Hin occupies the second place with 303,900 chips. For the Day 3, we find among others Xing Zhou, Tsugunari Toma, Edmund Lee, Henry Wang, Michael Kanaan, Robert Schneider, Paolo Compagno, Rahul Byrraju, Victorino Torres, Raymond Wu, Raiden Kan, Aaron Lim, Chen Rui, Mike Watson, Nicky Jin, Andrew Hinrichsen, Andrew Scott, Jay Tan, Vivian Im, Celina Lin and Angel Guillen.

Last Wednesday, the winner of the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) River Rock has been known. This is John Crncic. The first visit of the tournament in Canada was really successful. The organizers brought together 1,032 participants. It is also the largest poker tournament ever held in the country. Several well known players in the world took part in the event like David Sands, Gavin Smith, Laurence Grondin, Adam Levy, Scott Clements, Doug Lee, Matt Affleck and Jason Koon. They however, didn't went further than the Day 1. At the start of the second day, the field was already greatly reduced. Indeed, there were more than 246 players in the race. And a few times before the bubble burst, other professional players like Matt Jarvis and Greg Mueller were also forced to leave the party.

According to the latest quarterly report of the ARJEL, cash game activities register a major decline which continue to increase the extent of degradation of the French market of online poker. This downward trend affects all online poker rooms on French soil but attendance confirms that some rooms are able to hold their level of turnover. Among the operators which kept the cash game attendance despite this downward trend, we can place in the first three spots on the podium of this past week: Winamax, PokerStars and Partygaming network composed of PMU Poker, PartyPoker and ACFPoker. The APPT Macau began with the victory of Jeff Rossiter at the Asia Championship of Poker Warm-Up of HK $ 25,000. After this event, the tournament continued with the main event: the ACOP Main Event. The Day 1 began on Wednesday with the participation of 184 players who paid the buy-in of HK $ 100,000. The organizers expected 100 entries to reach HK $ 10 million in guaranteed prize pool but the Main Event attracted a field of 184 players at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex. Suddenly, the prize pool reached a record amount of HK $ 17,305,200 of which HK $ 4,240,000 for the winner, which is one of the largest in the history of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau.

Since November 1st, poker is featured on NRJ12. Caroline Boutier, former candidate for the House of Bluff 2, is the host of the sit & go called "Cash or Play." Following a selection by telephone and SMS, more than 254 players will compete each week and the winner will collect € 50,000 cash. To enable all poker enthusiasts to come on the board of Cash Play, organizers opted for a simple principle. Indeed, viewers participate in the first round limited to 192 players who have been selected by telephone and SMS. The first round will have 32 programs and two players per broadcast will pass in the second round. In addition to the first round, there will be four other rounds composed of the eliminates of the previous rounds and new players selected by telephone and SMS.

The 246 survivors of the Day 2 met at River Rock Theatre as part of the third day of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Circuit River Rock.
