WSOP 2012 Event # 24: Phil Ivey on the third place
While Phil Hellmuth had the privilege to accomplish his dream which is to win another bracelet, the 12 th of his career, Phil Ivey should continue to multiply his attempts. He was once again close to victory in the Event # 4, Omaha High Low Split 8 or Better, but unfortunately he had to settle for the third place despite his resistance. Note that Phil Ivey also grazed this feat during the Event # 17 because he was qualified for the final duel that ended with a victory of Andy Frankenberger. During the Event # 24 that brings together a field of 256 participants, it was Joe Cassidy who had the privilege of being in the first step of the podium. He's a cash game specialist and his exploits in live tournaments and online poker earned him a great gain of over $ 1.8 million.
During the final, he was in front of another well known player, Scotty Nguyen. But what made it easier for Cassidy, is that he accumulated a large advantage in chips at the beginning of the heads'up. Indeed, he held 3,000,000 chips while the Prince of Poker started the game with 845,000 chips. However, Nguyen played very well before he was eliminated. Thus, as winner, Cassidy took home the top prize of $ 294,777 and won his first bracelet. Note that it's also his greatest trophy in live tournaments. His runner-up took home the $ 182,213 bonus. As for Ivey, the sum of $ 136,046 was given to him as a reward for this great achievement.
