WCOAP High Roller: Victory of Nuno Duarte on a field of 62 participants
Since last Tuesday, the Aspers Casino of Westfield in Stratford has been hosting the edition 2014 of the APAT World Championship Of Amateur Poker. This London poker tournament stands out by its 16 events rewarded with bracelets with a buy-in of £55 to £220. The Event#1 £55 NLH Championship was won by Van Thang Nguyen for a prize of £2,175. One of the events the most waited by players present in the poker room of Aspers Casino these last days was the WCOAP High Roller (Event#3), a tournament with a buy-in of £220. The event gathered 62 players, generating a prizepool of £12,200 among which £3,670 for the winner.
After 11 hours of game, the tournament was won by Nuno Duarte who however, started the heads-up in a position less comfortable than his opponent, Bruce Salmon. Salmon began the heads-up with a stack of 1.06 million against 766,000 for Duarte. But Nuno Duarte caught quickly his late before outstripping his opponent. Nuno Duarte pocketed £3,670 for this victory on Bruce Salmon, who settled with £2,560. The first player who was eliminated from the final table was Ruslanas Rudycenas (9th, £365). He was followed a few hands before by Daniel Sharpe and Henry Wride who pocketed respectively £485 and £610. The elimination continued with the one of William Langton (6th, £370), David Charalambous (5th, £915), Steve Bayliff (4th, £1,220) and Liam Crawford (6th, £1,645). The elimination of the latter in the third place led Nuno Duarte and Bruce Salmon to meet in heads-up.
