WPT Montreal: Victory of Amir Babakhani in the Main Event
In its second year of existence, the World Poker Tour Canadian Spring Championship recorded a resounding success beside Canadian poker enthusiasts. Last week, the poker room of Playground Poker Club in Montreal hosted the second edition of the World Poker Tour on the Canadian soil with an important turnout of 735 players for the Main Event. Amir Babakhani won this event of $ 3,300 buy-in after a head's up with Barry Kruger. The prize pool of over $ 2.1 million was shared between the 72 best players of the tournament with $ 442,000 for the winner. The Canadian won the promised sum with a ticket for the grand finale of the WPT Bellagio in Las Vegas. Chip leader at the start of the final table, Amir Babakhani maintained the lead until winning the title.
Eliminated in the second place, Barry Kruger pocketed $ 272,555 while Jason Duval ($ 199,029) completed the podium just ahead of Bobby Liang ($ 136,700) and Martin Leblanc ($ 102,251). Among the well known players who have been in the money in the Main Event of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, there are Christian Harder, Bryan Piccioli, Danny Suied, Ravi Raghavan, Ronnie Bardah, Jeff Gross and also Shannon Shorr. As a reminder, this season will be closed by the WPT Bellagio Grand Final, an event that will have in its program many tournaments including the Main Event of $ 25,500 buy-in.
