Muhyedine Fares bags the chip lead heading to the final table - EPT Grand Final 2015
The 2015 European Poker Tour Grand Final held in Monte Carlo has just reached its final table after a hard-fought Day 5 battle. 15 players battled it out yesterday, but only 6 of them would make it through the final table. Of the remaining 15-player field, it was Tom Hall who first hit the rail. He entered the day as a short stack to come out in 15th place for 58,100. Day 5 was also a pretty gloomy one for André Astapau and Romain Peacock, the last French survivor in this poker tournament. Those men respectively fell to 14th and 13th place. With the same hand, Adrian Mateos aggressively kicked out two great names, namely Juan Martin Pastor (12th) and Christopher Frank (11th). Then Lyndon Basha (10th), Dmitry Ivanov (9th), Koichi Nozaki (8th) and Markus Ross would join the bench, one after the other.
Muhyedine Fares concluded Day 5 by bagging the lead with 5,235,000 in chips. The talented Senegalese poker player is heading to the final table with more than 1 million chips advantage over his nearest rival. Despite all this, the final table will be a tough one since the pack actually includes high-profile contenders, namely Germanys Ole Schemion, who is currently ranked 3rd on the Global Poker Index ranking with nearly $ 7.8 million of career gains and 11 trophies. 2nd in the chip count, Hady El Asmar is armed with 3,970,000 chips, followed by Adrian Mateos (3,565,000), Johnny Lodden (2,705,000), Jose Carlos Garcia (2,550,000) and Ole Schemion (1,425,000). No matter what result would emerge, these final-tablists are assured to walk away with a minimum gain of 233,500. The eventual winner, for his part, would leave Casino Royales poker room with the top prize of 1.082 million while the runner-up would cash 679,000.
