Qualified for the quarter-finals - Argentina and Belgium
Two games were played on Tuesday evening during the final day of the World cup 2014s final eight. Both Argentina and Belgium emerged victorious in their respective game against Switzerland and the United States. The two games did meet the expectations of sports betting fans; in fact, extra-time was needed to differ the four teams from the scoreboard. The first match saw the clash between Argentina and Switzerland. On paper, the Albiceleste is likely to win the game without much of a difficulty. But once on the ground, the Nati held Lionel Messis Argentina to a scoreless draw. Swiss defense was poor enough but Diego Benaglio successfully watched over his net despite a massive attack of the opposing team. But the South American team finally took the lead at the end of the extension with Angel di Marias left foot shot in the 118th minute (1-0).
Belgium and the United States also engaged themselves to a scoreless draw during 90 minutes of the regular playing time. But Eden Hazards Belgium made the difference in extra-time with a 2-1 score lead. The game was quite decisive and was subject to numbers of bets on sports betting sites. Needless to say, both teams share similarities in terms of performance, ability and speed in this competition. However the long experience of the Red Devils enabled them to win the match thanks to Kevin De Bruyne (93rd) and Romelu Lukaku (105th). Shorty after, the USA caught up their lapse by Julian Greens volleying shot (107th) two minutes after his entrance. He failed to materialize another goal in the 114th minute following a missed opportunity from Captain Clint Dempsey. Actually Argentina and Belgium are meeting this coming Saturday July 5 at National Stadium of Brasilia for the penultimate game of the quarter-finals.
