Dan Sing claimed the win - New Zealand Poker Open
Held in the poker room of Skycity Auckland, the 2015 New Zealand Poker Open (NZPO) Main Event had its curtain fall last weekend to a winner. Among the176 entrants contending in this $ 1,100 buy-in Main Event include New Zealand and Australia-based notable names, namely Hoai Nam Lee, Ryan Otto, Richard Lancaster, and the two-time NZPO champion Zheng Jackson. Tough was the battle, especially with the presence of these stars of poker; but nothing prevented Dan Sing from capturing his first major championship title.
When the final table arose, poker pro Koray Turker was on top of the leaderboard, and as usual, he performed his aggressive style all along the race. As for Dan Sing, he entered the final table as part of the lucky short stacks. Surprisingly, he successfully managed to stand still and eventually knocked out the days chip leader to 5th place and Cole Swannack to 6th-place. When Jason McMahon and Nic Oikawa hit the rail, Sing and Charlie Hawes battled it out in the ultimate round. The eventual champion had to walk through thick and thin before he could grab the title and the top prize of NZ $ 50,860. Thanks to this win, he is now ranked among the New Zealand Top 25 all-time money earners. Next up in the Skycity Auckland Poker Room is the $ 550 buy-in Sky High Multi-Day Event, which will place from June 26 to 28.
