Card Player Poker Tour: Victory of Thomas Beckstead at Bicycle Casino
This week, a new stage of the Card Player Poker Tour 2013 (CPPT) took place at Bicycle Casino of Bell Gardens in Los Angeles, in California. The program included 7 events, but the Main Event of $ 1,100 buy-in, was the high point of this tournament in which 369 players have taken part. But after three days of competition, the field was reduced to 9 players for the final table. Nichoel Jurgens widely led at the start of the final table with the double of her direct pursuerÂ’s stake, 3,540,000 against 1,730,000 chips. But at the end of the day, the victory came back to Thomas Beckstead following a reversal of situation during the head's up with the chipleader of the day.
The first player rewarded in the final table was Stan Hackett, following his elimination at the 9th place. He was joined a few times after by Zaher Samaan, William Zaiss, Pogos Simityan, Alan Myerson and Ho Shin Lee. The elimination of Rubin Chappell at the last step of the podium allowed Nichoel Jurgens and Thomas Beckstead to confront for the title. The pregnancy of Nichoel Jurgens did not seem to affect her performance and her manner to play poker well on the tables of the CPPT, but the last hand was not in favor of Jurgens and offered the victory to Thomas Beckstead. The latter pocketed the title with a gain of $ 102,010 and 600 points for the title of Card player of the year. For her place of runner-up, Nichoel Jurgens pocketed $ 52,110 and 500 POY points.
