Matti Konttinen and Quentin Lecomte dominate the Day 1A - FPS Cannes
As expected, the Cannes stage of the France Poker Series (FPS) kicked off last Thursday afternoon. They were 198 poker lovers who met in the poker room of Royal Pullman Casino for the first day flight of the FPS Sunfest Cannes Main Event. The battle started around 1:00 pm. Players were given a starting stack of 25,000 chips on 12 levels of 45 minutes. Of the 198-player field, only 77 made it through the next round. Finland's Matti Konttinen and Frances Quentin Lecomte lead the Day 1A chip count with more than 170,000 chips each, while the rest of the field train behind with 140,000 ones. Matti Konttinen provisionally bags the chip lead with 186,500 chips heading to Day 2. Quentin Lecomte, for his part, ranks second with 170,700 chips, followed by Fabrice Soulier (139,800 chips), Arnaud Mattern (105,500), Vanessa Brie (101,700), Steven Moreau (96,500) and Nicolas Le Floch (77,800). Note that the 77 remaining players will return to Royal Pullman Casino this coming Saturday for Day 2 battle.
Among those who make it through Day 2, some are poorly armed with less than the starting stack of 25,000 chips. Nicolas Lorente, Philippe Camroux, Yannick Chevrier, Hamou Touil, Muriel Pezzolesi, Lukasz Jankowski and Daniel Rinzis are included in that panel. The day was also marked by the elimination of some notable names like Franck Boyer, Fabrice Gouget, Cedric "Pilsner", Florence Allara, Daniel Smith and Abou Sy. The FPS Cannes poker tournament organizers expect to attract a large number of participants on Friday, the scheduled date of Day 1B battle.
