APPT Cebu: The title was gained by a Korean
It is the first time in the history of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) that a Korean player gains the title. Dong-bin Han has just conquered this weekend in Cebu the title of champion of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour of Philippines after having beaten David Hilton during the final heads-up. For this beautiful victory in the main tournament of $2,000 buy-in, Dong-bin Han thus pocketed $148,200. Han thus becomes the second Asian player to take down the Main Event of this prestigious tournament. David Hilton, who was the last obstacle of Dong-bin Han, received for his second places a check of $101,800, while the second best Korean performance of this Asian Pacific Poker Tour finale, Sim Somyung, sets out again with $58,000.
This edition of this Asian poker tournament is the second participation of Sim SomYung in a final table of the APPT. These last years, Philippines became a place of predilection of poker players coming from the Land of the Morning Calm. Let us recall that three Koreans were present at the last four best players of the Main Event of the Season 2 of the APPT Manila. With 319 players who took the departure the APPT of Cebu, the number of participants constitutes in itself another record; the APPT became the greatest event of poker ever organized in Philippines. Compared to last year, the Main Event of the APPT of Cebu knew a real increase in frequentation of about 12%. This enlargement of participants testifies once more to the expansion of poker in Asia.
